Questions I get from viewers and readers
If you are referring to "traditional" church then in one sense, no. However, regular communication and association with those of similar beliefs is essential if one desires to grow in their faith. Growth can't occur in a vacuum. One should be involved in activities that stimulate and involve Christian principles, ideals and teachings in some form or fashion, even if it isn't a "typical" church setting. This could be fellowship groups, home meetings, regular social gatherings for Christian purposes and fellowship, etc. Christianity is not all about 'you and God' it is about 'US and God.' If there is no 'us' in your Christianity, you are an isolationist. Christ Himself saw the need to belong to a group.
I am a UniBaptiPreterCostal. [Just kidding] I personally dislike labels, especially in Christendom. Why? Because people use it to separate, feel superior and judge. I have been Catholic, Baptist, New Age, Agnostic, Atheist and Charismatic at various points in my life. My preference is Charismatic. Know that I answered a denomination question, not a doctrinal one since doctrines can vary greatly within denominations.
After you learn what I teach on this site, you won't be confused with scriptures like this:
Matthew 5:19, "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 11:11, "Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."
Hmmmmm. Sinners called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven and they are greater than John The Baptist? Hint: This does NOT mean you can sin your way into heaven! Study my free 3 part course on this site!
I believe the Bible to be divinely inspired, Jesus came in the flesh, died and rose from the dead. Jesus is the Christ, the Truth and the Savior of the world. There is salvation in no other. All mankind needs salvation which is only found in repentance and acceptance of the Truth which is the Christ and His teachings.
I differ from what is considered "mainstream" theology in 2 basic areas. My research into original language and church history has led me to believe the salvation of all is more Biblically based than the mainstream theology of the majority burning alive in torment forever. Before you judge and label me because of that statement, read this and study my free 3 part course on this site.
And in the area of end-times theology, I lean in the Preterist direction. This is the view that some or all of what is considered end times prophecy was partially or fully fulfilled in 70 AD during the destruction of Jerusalem. However, as far as end-times doctrine goes, I am not so sure anyone has it right. Read this or this free book for a good starting point to understand what I mean.
I was ordained when I was 18. However, I have no use for titles of reverence [Rev., Father, Minister, etc.], collars or other religious clothing or any other religiosity that gives the appearance of "external spirituality" in comparison to everyone else. Christianity is best expressed by Christ like behavior, not titles and external religiosity. Having said that I realize many feel otherwise and I do not make this a point of contention or a reason for separation.
YES! Sometimes people ask me, "Why have I seen you on shows with some that appear unsaved or "unsanctified?" To this I say, "those that are more religious than Jesus concern me greatly." Most modern day Christians think to be Christian means "don't swear, smoke or drink" and they feel dirty when around those that do those things. To those people I say, "GET OVER YOURSELF! Much of the time you are not holy - you are religiously prideful and arrogant."
I love comedy, social and political issues and many other causes and interests in life. Many of my "unchurched" friends have proven less deceitful, more ethical and more supportive than many I have met that call themselves Christians.
1 Corinthians 5:9-11, "I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. In no way did I mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy and swindlers and idolaters, since you would then have to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person."
